In a press release on Friday morning, Captain Cory J. Minor and the City of Binghamton Police Department announced that a man was shot on the Brandywine Highway near the Interstate 81 South ramp.

Authorities say that a 22-year-old male was shot in the abdomen on Thursday while operating a car on the northbound side of Brandywine Highway near the Interstate 81 South ramp. Authorities believe that the suspected shooter was also operating a vehicle on the Brandywine Highway. The City of Binghamton Police Department responded to Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton at approximately 2:00 pm, where they found the man who suffered the gunshot wound. Authorities say the injuries are not life threatening.

During the investigation, the City of Binghamton Police searched the area near the Interstate 81 South ramp and recovered a .380 caliber casing and a .380 caliber magazine. At this time, authorities do not have a suspect and they do not have a description of the vehicle being driven by the suspected shooter. Authorities did not release any information about the possible motive of the suspected shooter.

The City of Binghamton Police also did not release any information indicating what time the shooting took place in their press release or if there were any known witnesses to the incident. At this time, the name of the victim has not been released, nor has any further information he may have about the incident.
