Binghamton’s Lourdes Hospital Being Acquired by Guthrie Clinic
Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Hospital in Binghamton is being sold to Guthrie Clinic of Sayre, Pennsylvania.
Guthrie announced its plan to acquire Lourdes and its affiliates from Ascension on Thursday. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
Ascension is a national healthcare system based in St. Louis.
According to a news release from Guthrie Clinic, the "transition will sustain and improve access to care for patients in Binghamton and surrounding communities."
The proposed sale is to include all Lourdes locations and the hospital's related physician practices.
Lourdes is to become part of Guthrie's integrated delivery system. The company said it has a network of 700 provides in over 50 specialties and subspecialties.
Lourdes operates its hospital on Riverside Drive on Binghamton's West Side. It also provides specialty care and ambulatory surgery.
Lourdes has a Regional Cancer Center at its Riverside Drive campus. It also operates a health and wellness center at the Oakdale Commons in Johnson City.
Guthrie said the sale is expected to close by early next year. The proposed deal will be subject to regulatory approvals.
In the meantime, both Lourdes and Guthrie will continue to operate independently.
Lourdes has been providing healthcare services in Binghamton for nearly a century.
Guthrie was founded in 1910. The company operates a five-hospital system with a network of outpatient facilities in Pennsylvania and New York.
