Endwell native Mike Dunham returns to his home area next Monday night, April 18 when he is inducted into the Greater Binghamton Sports Hall of Fame.  He is one of 12 members of the Class of 2016 who will be honored on Monday night at the DoubleTree by Hilton.

Dunham left the area after participating in various youth hockey programs including the Empire State Games.  He enrolled at Canterbury Academy in New Milford, Connecticut and from there earned a scholarship to play hockey at the University of Maine where he won an NCAA Division I National Championship and earned All-America honors.

Mike was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in 1990 .  Following time honing his goaltending skills in the American Hockey League he saw duty for ten seasons in the National Hockey League.  Over those ten seasons Mike appeared in 394 NHL games with the Devils, Nashville, the New York Rangers and Islanders and the Atlanta Thrashers. He helped the United States win a silver medal in the 2002 Winter Olympic Games

 

Mike is still closely involved in the game serving as goaltending coach with the Islanders. Mike's wife Kate is a former television news reporter for WICZ and WIVT in Binghamton.  His father Ron is a golf professional and was the pro locally at Vestal Hills.
