With a 5-2 win October 20 the New York Mets held a 3-0 lead in their best-of-seven series against the Chicago Cubs.   New York sent Steven Matz to the mound October 21 against the Cubs' Jason Hammel in hopes of a series sweep.

Matz lost his only start in the post-season giving up three runs and five hits to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Division Series.  Matz made a pair of rehab starts with the Binghamton Mets this summer earning one win. In 11.1 innings Matz gave up no earned runs.

Daniel Murphy has been the talk of the playoffs.  Murphy has ripped six post-season home runs and has homered in five straight post-season games to equal the record set by Carlos Beltran in 2004.

Murphy spent much of the 2008 season in Binghamton where he saw action in 95 games.  He batted .308 that season with the B-Mets.  He had 13 home runs and drove in 67 runs.
