Marthon Man Killed in Farming Accident Identified
Cortland County Sheriff's officials say a Marathon man is dead after the old tractor he was driving rolled over on him.
Authorities say 41-year-old Reuben Coplentz was mowing his property on McGraw Marathon Road at around 5:25 p.m. November 7 when the tractor he was driving that was pulling a wagon up a slight grade overturned, pinning him under the tractor.
Family members helping on the farm ere able to free him using a jack but Coplentz later died of severe internal injuries at Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center.
Investigators say the older, "Oliver" brand tractor Coplentz was operating was not equipped with modern protective roll bar equipment.
