A man who was gunned down in the parking lot of a Johnson City business has died.

Village police chief Brent Dodge Sunday afternoon announced the shooting case has become a homicide investigation.

Dodge said the man was shot near the corner of Riverside Drive and Grand Avenue around 10 p.m. Saturday.

The wounded man was taken to Wilson Medical Center and later pronounced dead.

The police chief said his name is not being released pending notification of all family members.

The shooting of the man, who was reported to have been unarmed, happened in the parking lot of the Halal Bites restaurant.

Dodge said investigators are looking for "at least one male suspect of unknown race." The shooter was reported to have been wearing dark clothing and a dark mask over his face.
