Man Hurt, Shots Fired in Fight Near Binghamton Convenience Store
Binghamton police say several people were involved in a West Side disturbance in which gunshots apparently were fired in the area of a business.
The incident occurred shortly after 11:30 p.m. Sunday in the area of 77 Main Street.
Police were dispatched to the scene to investigate a report that two shots were fired during a fight at Jay's One Stop convenience store.
A police officer found a loaded .25 caliber handgun in the parking lot of the business at Main and Walnut streets.
Police said four people were involved in a physical dispute at the store. One of the participants dropped the gun on the ground during the fight.
Two men fled the scene in a light-colored sedan heading east on Main Street toward the downtown district.
People who were in the area told police they heard gunshots that may have been coming from the vehicle as it raced away.
