Man Accused of Yelling Racial Epithets at Endicott Crossing Guard

An Endicott man has been accused of a hate crime for allegedly directing racial epithets and threatening a school crossing guard in the village

Authorities say 40-year-old Chad Quick has been charged with first-degree harassment as a hate crime in connection with the reported incident.

According to Endicott police, Quick is alleged to have yelled racial epithets combined with physical threats while the crossing guard was on duty around 6:45 a.m. Thursday.

Investigators say Quick was arrested around 7 a.m. Friday. They did not provide information about the specific comments or threats he allegedly made. The location where the incident occurred also was not revealed.

Quick was released on an appearance ticket. He was directed to appear in Endicott village court on Wednesday.

Police did not indicate where the crossing guard was working when the threat was made. They said it was not related to a Thursday afternoon incident in which a crossing guard and a girl were struck by a vehicle at Vestal Avenue and Central Street.
