Man Accused of Hitting Gas Pumps in Cortlandville
Cortland County Sheriff’s officials credit quick action with avoiding a potentially explosive situation at a gas station on Route 13 in the Town of Cortlandville at 10:07 p.m. January 17.
Authorities say a Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by a 42 year old man, hit the gas pumps at the Red Apple causing damage. An employee quickly shut down the pumps to prevent further damage and gas leaks.
The man was taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse in critical but stable condition.
Sheriff’s officials say it had been reported the man was involved in a domestic argument prior to the crash in which a woman was said to have been hit by the un-named man’s vehicle. She suffered a minor leg injury.
The combined incident is under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Sergeant John Gallagher at (607) 758-5562.
