A 21-year-old man faces charges following an assault that allegedly occurred in a vehicle in the Town of Bainbridge.

Authorities say William Holden of Bainbridge was accused of causing an injury by striking someone in the face.

Holden was charged with first-degree criminal contempt and third-degree assault.

According to state police, the action violated a court order of protection that had been issued against Holden by the person who was hurt.

Investigators say the attack was said to have happened in a vehicle on Route 206.

Holden was arraigned in Bainbridge town court and sent to Chenango County Jail on $2,500 bail.
