A Broome County man who owned a car repair service for decades has died following a head-on crash in the town of Chenango.

Authorities say 82-year-old Harold "Butch" Sickles was driving on Castle Creek Road around 8:15 a.m. Saturday when the collision occurred.

Sickles was transported to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the other car, 22-year-old Mallory Neira of Owego, was taken to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre for treatment. The nature of her injuries was not known.

According to New York State Police, Neira's southbound car crossed into the oncoming lane on a snow-covered roadway and hit the vehicle being operated by Sickles.

The crash is under investigation.

Sickles ran an automotive repair garage in Castle Creek for several decades.
