Labor Day Scorcher Heats Up The Holiday
Temperatures pushed into the 90's this afternoon as the National Weather Service continues the Heat Advisory for the WNBF listening area until 8 P.M tonight (Monday). At NYSEG Stadium where the Binghamton Rumble Ponies completed their season with an afternoon game the outfield electronic temperature board showed 92 degrees midway through the game.
The National Weather Service forecast predicted the Heat Index could reach 97. Scattered showers developed over parts of the area and rain fell on several occasions in the latter stages of the Rumble Ponies versus Portland Sea Dogs game.
There is no relief in sight for at least two more days. Forecasters believe the Heat Index for Tuesday and perhaps Wednesday could reach 95 or more with temperatures approaching 90 degrees.
By Friday a cooling trend is expected to spread over the area with temperatures getting into the mid- 70's for highs. According to the National Weather Service there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms into the upcoming weekend.
