A Broome County man will continue to serve a life sentence for the murder of his Johnson City neighbor in 2013 following a failed appeal.

47 year old Christopher Davis was convicted of murder in the death of 50 year old Patricia LaCaprara, who was said to have been killed during the course of a robbery at her Brown Street apartment.

Davis lived in the second floor apartment while LaCaprara lived on the first floor.  The two had only been neighbors for seven weeks.

A short time after the murder, a Broome County Sheriff’s Deputy found Davis coming out of underbrush at Aqua Terra Park, covered in mud and searched the car Davis had been driving.  During the trial, the Deputy said property belonging to LaCaprara, including a shopping card and her driver’s license were found during a search of the car.

Davis was arrested later that day.

The New York State Appellate Division ruled the evidence presented at the 2014 trial properly supported the jury’s guilty verdict.
