As the winter season approaches, the Village of Johnson City is implementing its winter parking rules, which will be in effect from December 1st through March 31st, running 24 hours a day.

To ease the transition, the village is giving residents a heads-up by issuing warning tickets for alternate-side parking violations during the first full week of December.

On even-numbered days, park on the even side of the street until 5:00 p.m., then switch to the odd side. Odd-numbered days call for parking on the odd side until 5:00 p.m., then move to the even side.

Note that there are exceptions for consecutive odd days like December 31/January 1 and January 31/February 1, where you'll need to stick to the odd side for both days, switching to the even side on January 1st/February 1st.

It's worth remembering that alternate side parking applies across all village streets, except for specific Red-Line streets. These exempt areas have their own Snow Emergency Route regulations and come with parking restrictions during significant snowfall.

During the first week of December, grace will be extended as warning tickets are issued for alternate-side parking violations. After this initial period, violating the rules will result in a $40 fine, with a $20 discount if paid within 7 days.

Johnson City reminds residents and visitors that these rules do more than just facilitate snow clearance – they're important for maintaining traffic flow and safety during winter.
Residents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the regulations and comply with the rules within a reasonable time frame.
