Binghamton University senior middle distance runner Jesse Garn is heading to the University of Arkansas for the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships  this weekend March 13 and 14.  He will compete in the 800 meters where he is currently a sixth seed.

The top 16 performances in each event during the current season advance to the Championships.  Garn recorded his best time of 1:46.98 on February 14 at the Iowa State Classic.

The trials for the 800 are scheduled for 8:55 Eastern Standard Time on Friday night.  The finals will follow the next night at 8:30 PM Eastern Standard Time.  To qualify for the finals an athlete must finish in the top three in a heat or be one of the next two fastest times.

Both days of the NCAA Track & Field Championships will be televised on ESPN3.  All - American honors will  be awarded to the top eight  finishers.  Those who end up 9th through 16th will receive second-team All American honors.

Garn has had a superb year as a Bearcat.  He was just named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association Northeast Region Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year.
