Jeep Out of Gas in Cortland County Found to be Stolen
A Marathon teen and a 20-year-old from Syracuse are accused of stealing a Jeep that Cortland County Sheriff’s Deputies found had run out of gas along the side of a road in the Town of Marathon Christmas night.
Sheriff’s officials found the Jeep disabled along the road at 10:12 p.m. When they were talking to 18-year-old Vincente Martinez of Marathon, he provided them with a wrong name. While continuing to assist the 18-year-old, 20-year-old Isaias Lanzo of Syracuse and a 16-year-old, Deputies found New York State Police had a report the 2010 Jeep Liberty had been stolen Christmas Eve from a business in the Town of Salina.
Martinez and Lanzo are each charged with felony criminal possession of stolen property. Martinez is also charged with misdemeanor criminal impersonation and was issued several traffic tickets.
The 16-year-old was released to a family member and will be petitioned at a later date.
