Two Johnson City brothers were sent to Broome County jail after village police discovered them in a parked vehicle that had been stolen minutes earlier from a nearby home.

Authorities say 19-year-old William Green Junior of Sherman Street and his 16-year-old brother were charged with burglary, evidence tampering and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

They also were charged with endangering the welfare of a child for involving a 15-year-old brother after the theft.

Police on route patrol noticed a suspicious vehicle in the Riverside Plaza parking lot off Riverside Drive. The occupied parked car was spotted in the lot around 4 a.m. Tuesday.

After talking with the brothers, police determined the vehicle had been taken during a burglary at a home several blocks away.

The brothers were arraigned in Johnson City village court and sent to Broome County jail.
