JC Bar’s Liquor License Suspended Due to Covid-19 Violations
The New York State Liquor Authority has issued an emergency order suspending the liquor license of a Johnson City tavern for repeatedly violating pandemic health regulations.
Charley's Lounge at 272 Harry L. Drive was one of 36 establishments cited by Governor Andrew Cuomo Tuesday for "egregious violations" of executive orders aimed at reducing the spread of Covid-19.
According to state officials, Johnson City police officers found more than 30 patrons without facial coverings in the bar on October 22. Those without required masks were observed "standing, mingling and playing pool."
Officers discovered no food was being served, in violation of the state executive orders. A bartender without a facial covering also was noticed during the compliance check.
The liquor authority described Charley's Lounge as a repeat offender because of an earlier warning by police. The business also had been charged with multiple Covid-related violations by the authority following a police referral.
The owners of Charley's Lounge could not be located for comment Tuesday.
