Not long ago, Style Encore in Vestal was preparing to close its doors. Regular customers had already heard the news, and for a time, it seemed like the store’s run was coming to an end.

Then the plans changed. After more conversations about the future, the owners decided to take a different approach, one that would keep the store open and push it in a new direction instead.

They started looking into selling the store rather than shutting it down entirely. In those conversations, something else came up: there were updates the brand had already been planning, changes that kept getting pushed back but that could give the store a real reason to keep going.  So instead of closing, they decided to move forward with those updates and see where things go.

Style Encore also buys clothing daily and takes items from any season. They’re looking for adult clothing and accessories (sizes XS through plus) with a focus on styles geared toward people 25 and older. Condition and current trends matter most when deciding what to take in. In that sense, the store works both ways: people can come in to buy or to sell.
