Music, Fun, and Agriculture Await at the 2023 Harford Fair!
Around here, locals know that when the Harford Fair rolls around, it means that the school year in Pennsylvania is about to start - there's usually a week or so between the end of the fair and the start of the new school year.
This year, Blue Ridge students will start school on August 23, Mountain View on August 28, and Montrose on August 31. So, it's clear that we are less than two weeks away from the highly anticipated 2023 Harford Fair!
The Harford Fair is steeped in history and is recognized as one of the oldest fairs in Pennsylvania. It all started back in 1856 when the first fair took place in the sheds surrounding Harford's First Congregational Church. Only seventy-six members participated in that inaugural fair. Over the years, the event has evolved into a beloved local tradition, serving as a final celebration before school begins.
Mark your calendar for this year's Harford Fair, which will be held from August 14-19. Unlike the earlier days, the fair now takes place at the fairgrounds located at 485 Fair Hill Road in New Milford.
One of the main attractions of the fair is the lively music performances. This year, country star Priscilla Block will grace the stage. Known for her hit duet "You, Me, and Whisky" with Justin Moore, Block's performance is scheduled for Thursday, August 17, at 7:30 p.m.
Beyond the music, the Harford Fair features an array of exhibits celebrating the region's rich agricultural heritage. Attendees can explore displays showcasing farm animals and agriculture, offering educational opportunities to learn about farming practices.
But that's not all! The fair also promises thrilling events such as Gas Truck and Semi Truck Pulls, Hot and Diesel Truck Pulls, Bullride Mania Rodeo, and Jackpot Demolition Derby. Additionally, there are various contests to participate in, ranging from needlecraft and woodworking to cake and pie making, with a turkey calling contest adding a unique twist. Of course, fairgoers can also enjoy games, rides, vendors, and an abundance of delicious food options.
So, gear up for a fantastic time at the Harford Fair, where you can immerse yourself in the agricultural heritage, enjoy exciting entertainment, and create lasting memories before the school year begins.
