Closed Vestal Denny’s Restaurant To Be Torn Down For New Business
An abandoned restaurant building on the Vestal Parkway is to be demolished to make way for another business that's planning to open on the site.
The Denny's location just west of the Binghamton University campus closed just before Christmas 2024.
Chase Bank has received approval from the town of Vestal to open a branch on the one-acre site where Denny's had operated for more than four decades.
The new Chase branch will replace the company's existing office that's operated for a few years at the nearby University Plaza.
The site of the future bank is at the corner of the Vestal Parkway East and Bunn Hill Road.
At a March meeting of the Vestal town planning board, a Chase representative indicated work on the project is expected to start with the demolition of the existing building this summer.
Under the proposed schedule, the new bank would open sometime next spring.
Vestal town supervisor Maria Sexton said she was pleased that Chase is planning to build a new branch office at the Parkway site.
The Denny's restaurant was a fixture on the Vestal Parkway for almost 45 years.
The only remaining Denny's location in the Binghamton area is on Front Street in the town of Chenango.
