Inmate Assaults Cortland County Jail Officer

Additional charges are filed against a Cortland County Jail inmate after he reportedly attacked and injured a Corrections Officer.

The Sheriff’s Office says at around 8 a.m. Friday, April 1 inmates were being escorted to another part of the Correctional Facility when 30 year old David Wegner of Cortland reportedly lunged at the officer and head-butted him in the face.

The officers and other COs subdued Wegner.

The injured officer received medical treatment. There were no other injuries to officers or inmates.

Wegner is being charged with felony assault.
