The nasty weather knocked out electric service for hundreds of Iberdrola USA customers in upstate New York but few problems were reported in the Southern Tier.

A mixture of snow, freezing rain and freezing drizzle, accompanied by gusty winds, apparently triggered power interruptions in some areas.

At one point Tuesday night, six New York State Electric and Gas customers in Tioga county were without electricity.

As of 8:30 this morning, no NYSEG customers in Broome or Tioga counties were reported without service.

The utility reported outages affecting 90 customers in Sullivan, Eries, Seneca and Cattaraugus counties.

More widespread problems were being experienced by NYSEG's sister utility, Rochester Gas and Electric.

1243 RG&E electric customers were without service as of 8:30 a.m. Those outages were in Wayne and Monroe counties.
