Hydrant Flushing Could Discolor Water in Binghamton

The City of Binghamton is starting its semi-annual hydrant-flushing.

The City will flush and test fire hydrants from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through October 11.

The Water/Sewer Department says water discoloration and low pressure may be noticed at various times during the flushing but the water will still be safe to use.

Residents should check their cold water before using it.  It may be necessary to run the cold tap to clear any discoloration.
