Fred Couples Roars Into First Place Tie in Weather-Delayed Final Round
Fred Couples shot the best round of the day...a 9-under par 63 to roar into a share of the lead with Doug Barron in the final round of the Dick's Sporting Goods Open at En Joie Golf Club. Couples, the 1991 B.C. Open Champion, is playing in his first Dick's Sporting Goods Open. Couples made five birdies on the back nine to make his run up the leaderboard.
Thunderstorms moved into the area and halted play at 3:54 PM. Baron, who was the co-leader after round one and held the solo lead after the second round, has made four birdies through his round so far. He has completed 14 holes in round three. Barron just turned 50 in July and is playing in just his second tournament on the Tour of Champions circuit.
Woody Austin remains in the hunt. He has completed 15 holes and is two strokes behind at 13-under. Scott McCarron has played 14 holes today and he is at 11-under par.
