Fire Prompts Evacuation at Vestal Business

The blaze at White Rose Day Spa and Hair Design at 4535 Vestal Road broke out around 11:30 a.m. June 25.

The fire started on a porch at the rear of the building. Investigators say it was sparked by a cigarette. Although the cigarette butt apparently had been discarded in a container, it was not extinguished.

The fire spread to a chair and then to the siding of the building. Some smoke damage was reported to the attic of the structure.
