After being closed for three months, Broome County's first modernized Burger King restaurant has reopened.

The location on East Main Street in Endwell was shut down on July 31 for the major makeover project.

The interior and exterior of the restaurant were updated to feature what Burger King calls its "Sizzle" redesign.

The front section of the Endwell location now includes three kiosks for ordering and a counter for customers to pick up their food.

The restaurant still has a single drive-thru lane because of space limitations at the East Main Street site. But most redesigned Burger King restaurants will feature double lanes where possible.

The Burger King location on Ash Road in Vestal, which also is being transformed into the Sizzle format, will have dual drive-thru lanes.

That restaurant is expected to be back in operation in a few days.

Three other Broome County Burger King locations are scheduled to close for remodeling next year.

They are at 290 Main Street on Binghamton's West Side, 464 Court Street on the city's East Side and at 1250 Front Street in the town of Chenango.

Burger King officials have said sales have increased at the company's redesigned restaurants.
