First Phase of Vestal Parkway Bridge Project Nearing Completion
Concrete is being poured this week as work continues on a major bridge rehabilitation project in Vestal.
Key components of the Route 434 span over Choconut Creek had deteriorated over the years.
Bette & Cring Construction Group of Latham is the general contract for the $4.4 million project. The bridge deck is being replaced.

Vestal Parkway traffic near Town Hall Road has been restricted to a single lane in both directions since April.
Vehicles are using the westbound lanes of the bridge this construction season while work is done on the eastbound lanes.
Construction operations for the first phase of the project should be completed around the end of next month.

Work on the westbound lanes is expected to start in April and be finished in the fall of 2027.
The bridge rehabilitation project has affected access to the Vestal Town Hall. People are unable to travel directly to the town offices from Route 434. Instead, they must follow a posted detour using Front Street.
