A Town of Union house that was wrecked by a blaze linked to methamphetamine production may finally be torn down.

Fire tore through the structure at 3304 Wayne Street in Endwell on August 26, 2018.

New York State Police charged the homeowner, 32-year-old Brent Fallon, with unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine, a felony.

Investigators said they detected precursors for the manufacture of the drug in the basement of the house.

Since the fire, people who live in the quiet Endwell neighborhood have been wondering when the heavily-damaged building would be demolished.

Daria Golazeski, the town's deputy commissioner of public works for codes and ordinances, said the work could get underway soon.

Golazeski said All Around Excavating has been hired to tear down the structure. She said a demolition permit still must be issued.

Broome County records show Fallon remains the property owner of record. The status of the charge filed by state police could not be determined.
