The Binghamton Bearcats journeyed into hallowed ground when they traveled to South Bend, Indiana to face the defending national champions...the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.  Currently ranked second in the nation Notre Dame rolled to a 103-53 victory over the Bearcats.  It was the first time a Binghamton women's basketball team played a defending national champion.

The victory ups the Fighting Irish's record to 9-1 while the Bearcats fall to 5-6.  Binghamton had two players reach double figures. Rebecca Carmody scored 12 points while Lizzy Spindler notched 10 points.  Binghamton High School graduate and BU freshman Annie Ramil grabbed 12 rebounds.

Speaking with Cam Lavallee on the NBT Bank post-game show on News Radio 1290 WNBF Bearcats coach Bethann Shapiro Ord said " I'm really proud of the girls.  They never gave up and they fought hard the whole game."

The Bearcats remain on the road and travel to Milwaukee to meet Marquette University for an 8:00 P.M. game on Monday night (air at 7:45 on News Radio 1290 WNBF).  Marquette, members of the Big East conference, defeated Green Bay on Saturday 80-54 and is 8-2 on the season.  It is the first ever meeting between the two teams.
