Ten students and their bus driver are recovering from minor injuries after their charter bus bound from the Rochester area to New York City for a field trip slid off Interstate 81 in the Town of Virgil November 21 as the driver swerved to avoid a couple vehicles that had lost control on the snow-covered road ahead.

The crash happened at 9:09 a.m. November 21.

The students and driver were taken to Cortland Regional Medical Center where they were treated and released.

The remaining passengers were taken to the Village of Marathon Civic Center where arrangements were made with the Pittsford Mendon High School to get them all back home.

The Covered Wagon Tours bus was carrying 40 9th grade students and 5 adult chaperones.
