Female Rangers, DEC Cops Wanted in New York
New York State is taking steps to increase the number of women in the ranks of law enforcement.
The Department of Environmental Conservation and Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation have joined New York State Police and other police department taking the 30 X 30 Pledge to add more women to their forces. The goal is to reach 30 percent of women in police recruit classes by 2030.
The state is looking for more DEC Police Officers, Forest Rangers and Park Police Officers by improving representation and experiences of women in law enforcement. The agencies are to evaluate current states of gender equity and develop plans to eliminate barriers that prevent women from advancing in the ranks.
The New York State Police took the pledge to boost the number of female Troopers and more than 160 municipal law enforcement agencies have taken the pledge according to Governor Kathy Hochul’s office.
The DEC Division of Forest Protection and Law Enforcement plans outreach activities through the state including career fairs and marketing campaigns along with posting on social medial platforms.
