The Trooper responded to the report of men fighting at 4:24 p.m. February 19 and says 34-year-old Michael Lubrano and 65-year-old Gary Lubrano of Cobleskill not only refused orders to stop fighting but then assaulted him as he tried to take the father into custody.  The trooper suffered an injury to his jaw and lip.

Authorities say as the scuffle continued, a K9 handler arrived and the police dog ended up biting Gary Lubrano.

Other Troopers also continued to try to take Gary and Michael into custody as they continued to struggle and a second Trooper suffered a broken hand.

Officers from Troop G heard the transmissions and joined the officers from Troop C, finally arresting the men.

Both of the Lubranos were treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital.

The men are charged with two felony counts of assault on a police officer and two misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest.  Michael is also additionally charged with driving while intoxicated.

Both were sent to the Otsego County Jail on $50,000 bail.

The injured troopers were treated at local hospitals and released. Officials say it’s not known when they will return to duty.
