Family Arts Adventure Details on Southern Tier Close Up
Following a huge inaugural year, four local arts organizations are joining forces again for Arts Adventure for families in the Binghamton area.
Appearing on this week's edition of the weekly, local public affairs program, Southern Tier Close Up, Roberson Museum and Science Center executive director Michael Grasso talks about the upcoming event being hosted at the Front Street, Binghamton mansion.
Grasso says reservations are being taken for the limited spots in the program March 22 that will take place from noon to 4 p.m. featuring a variety of interactive events and performances at a single, all-inclusive price.
Roberson is working with the Binghamton Philharmonic orchestra, Tri-Cities Opera and the Goodwill Theatre providing a theater, art, music and even planetarium show experience for families with children grades K-5.
Grasso says the group has thought about just about everything from the performances to snacks (included) and even time-out quiet space if children needed.
For $12 per family of any size, $5 per person, families can arrive any time during the day and leave when they like.
Based on last year's experience, Grasso says he's excited to watch families and, especially the young children, become involved in a real, hands-on way, with the arts. He says, who knows?, that experience could lead a spark in a kid that could end up with that child growing up to be, oh, I don't know, maybe the executive director of a museum...
Arts Adventure is being made possible with support from the Klee Foundation and the Rotary Club of Binghamton and with volunteers from Visions Federal Credit Union.
