Endicott in the Running for Downtown Development Funds
The Southern Tier Regional Economic Development Council is looking over proposals for funding for the revitalization of downtown neighborhoods.
The Council was scheduled to review plans July 8 including a proposal from the Village of Endicott, which is hoping to land $10 million.
Endicott is in the finals for the fourth round of funding totaling $100 million for ten projects across New York State through the state’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative.
The program looks to leverage private and public investment to improve vulnerable and under-served communities.
Endicott’s proposal looks to promote high-tech industry while improving livability for employees. That includes housing stock geared toward young professionals, expansion of the Union Endicott School District incubator, sporting facilities, alternative energy sources and an indoor produce farm in the downtown center.
