Endicott BAE Systems Unit Gets Big Boston Contract
BAE Systems in Endicott has received a significant order to provide equipment for Boston's commuter bus fleet.
The company has announced that Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority has ordered 194 electric hybrid buses that utilize an extended range propulsion system.
The equipment is designed by BAE at its HybriDrive Propulsion Systems facility at Huron Campus. The work is centered in a complex on Hayes Avenue in Endwell.
The value of the new contract was not disclosed. A BAE Systems spokeswoman said the Boston transit system now operates 261 buses that use the company's propulsion system.
In November, the company announced the delivery of its 10,000th electric drive system into transit service.
