Drug Suspect Crashes into Endicott Building with Child in Car
Authorities say an Endicott man was arrested after a vehicle he was driving struck a building while he was being pursued by police.
According to village police, 18-year-old Kenneth Jordan II of Cleveland Avenue was taken into custody late Thursday afternoon.
Investigators say Jordan failed to comply when officers tried to stop the car he was driving on Monroe Street.
The vehicle, which also was occupied by a four-year-old child and another man, ultimately hit a building at the corner of Monroe Street and Madison Avenue. No injuries were reported.
Police say Jordan ran away but was apprehended a short distance from the scene of the crash.
Detectives say Jordan had crack cocaine in his possession at the time.
Jordan faces two felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. He also was charged with reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a child and unlawfully fleeing a police officer.
Jordan was arraigned and sent to Broome County Jail without bail.
