New York State Police are investigating a serious motor vehicle crash in the Town of Maine February 14.

State Police say law enforcement, fire and medical teams were called to Route 26 at Flint Road, southwest of Hardy Road with a report of a motor vehicle crash with injury and possible entrapment at 7:28 p.m.

The Guthrie Air medical helicopter was called in and a portion of Route 26 was closed.

State Police tell us a Ford Focus and Honda Civic were involved in the collision with both drivers seriously hurt.

The driver of the Ford was taken to Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center while the driver of the Honda was flown by air ambulance to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse.

State Police say the two drivers were alone in their vehicles at the time of the collision.

The road in the area of the crash was believed to be closed for about four hours.

No other details are available.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
