A Crestview Heights man was arrested following a spectacular crash on Route 17C near Endicott's En-Joie Golf Course.

Authorities say 46-year-old Daryl Williams of Glenbrook Drive was entrapped in the 2018 Jeep Wrangler that went off Campville Road in the town of Union. The crash happened around 9:45 p.m. Saturday.

According to New York State Police, the westbound vehicle struck a mailbox and a utility pole. It continued down an embankment before becoming airborne and slamming into another utility pole.

The second pole with three transformers was located near the entrance to a Mirabito convenience store.

NYSEG crews were called to the scene to deal with the broken poles along with the transformers and downed power lines.

After he was extricated from the wrecked Jeep, Williams was evaluated by medics.

State police say Williams was charged with driving while intoxicated. His blood alcohol content was measured at 0.14 percent. He was ordered to appear in Union town court on March 2.
