An Otsego County man has been arrested in connection with a single-vehicle crash that resulted in the deaths of two passengers in an SUV he was driving.

Authorities say 26-year-old Shane Santiago of Otego has been charged with two counts of second-degree manslaughter.

According to New York State Police, Santiago was the driver of a Ford Escape that went off County Highway 13 in the town of Pittsfield on July 15.

Investigators say Santiago was arrested Tuesday at his residence. He was arraigned and ordered held on $2,000 bail.

Santiago is accused of causing the crash by driving recklessly.

Police say 21-year-old Cheyenn Aubry of Treadwell and 21-year-old Teyha Gonzalez of Bainbridge died of injuries sustained in the crash. Santiago was treated at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown for minor injuries.
