The man killed after being dragged under a car on the West Side of Binghamton is being remembered.

Binghamton Mayor Richard David church officials, members of Catholic Charities of Broome County and friends were scheduled to attend a 5 p.m. memorial service April 28 in the parking lot of Tom’s Coffee, Cards and Gifts to honor Ronald Richardson. The memorial was organized by the owner of the business.

Joe Rzboril of Catholic Charities described Richardson as “a gentle soul” who had no family in the area.

36 year old Jennifer Genchus of Vestal is charged with felony vehicular manslaughter in the incident at around 5:45 p.m. April 24.

Police say they believe Genchus was driving while under the influence of drugs when Richardson was hit near the Main Street business and dragged through the parking lot.

Bystanders rushed in to flip the car off the man but he passed away.

Genchus was sent to the Broome County Jail.

Binghamton Police say only a few days earlier, Genchus had been arrested in the same area on narcotics charges.
