Binghamton Police Arrest Two After Main Street Shooting
Two people face charges following a dispute that resulted in several shots being fired from a handgun on Binghamton's West Side.
Police were sent to Main and Cedar streets around 2:50 p.m. Monday after at least three gunshots were heard in the area.
Investigators believe no one was wounded in the incident which erupted during an altercation in front of an apartment building at 132 Main Street.
Several people who were believed to have been involved in the fight ran away before police patrols arrived at the scene.
City detectives executed a search warrant in an apartment in the six-unit building on Main Street.
Investigators said they confiscated multiple loaded gun magazines found in the residence. They also seized cocaine, MDMA and drug packaging material.
Police also discovered a loaded Glock 9 millimeter handgun outside the three-story apartment house.
Detectives said 22-year-old Shaquan Johnson of Binghamton and 20-year-old Kyerria Haggerty of Binghamton have been charged with tampering with physical evidence, endangering the welfare of a child and multiple narcotics offenses.
Johnson also was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.
