October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.  In recognition of that, the Executive Director of A New Hope Center, Fran Bialy and the President of Democratic Women of Tioga County, Diane Lechner are the guests on the September 24 edition of the weekly local public affair program, Southern Tier Close Up.

Bialy addresses the many facets of domestic violence as well as the services being provided by the New Hope Center in Tioga County and beyond while Lechner talks about why the Democratic Women have become involved in the issue.

Both also talk about the Black Dress fundraiser coming up October 14 at Tioga Downs.

Lechner stresses all the proceeds from the event benefit the center and not the Democratic Women's group.

Tickets for the semi-formal event are available at the Black Dress Facebook page.

More information can be found by calling the center at (607) 687-6866 and at their website: www.anewhopecenter.org.

Southern Tier Close Up can be heard Saturdays at 12:10 p.m. on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
