It was 1971 when professional golf found its way to Broome County and to celebrate the 50th anniversary of golf in our community, Dick's Sporting Goods Open and UHS are throwing a free celebration for area families.

The Dick's Sporting Goods Open kicks off on Monday, June 28 with practice rounds and ends on Sunday, July 4 with trophy presentations, but there will be other events scheduled through the week including Sock Out Cancer Awareness Day and a concert by the country group Old Dominion but new this year will be a special Family Fun Night.

Dick's Sporting Goods Open has teamed up with UHS for Family Fun Night which will be held on Saturday, July 3 at En-joie Golf Course in Endicott on the 18th Fairway.

Family Fun Night will not only be free but will be open to the public. Grab a blanket or lawn chair and get ready for a fun movie night with concessions and fireworks after the movie. Gates for the Family Fun Night will open at 7:30 p.m. and the movie, The Sandlot, will begin at 8:00 p.m. and will be shown on the Jumbotron.

Concessions will be available and since Dick's Sporting Goods Open is celebrating 50 years of professional golf in Broome County, concession prices will be exactly what they were 50 years ago, in 1971. All concessions from pizza to popcorn, hot dogs to soda, will be sold for $1.00 with the exception of alcohol.

Reservations for Family Fun Night are not needed and gates will be wide open for anyone who would like to attend.
