Former Broome County Executive Debra Preston is considering her options after a political postcard was mailed to her house depicting her in jail and County Clerk candidate Joseph Mihalko letting her out.

The mailing alleges Mihalko plans to make Preston the head of the Department of Motor Vehicles and urges voters not to “give Debbie Preston a job.”

The card does not include information on the group responsible.

Preston has lawyers looking into the matter.

She says she is no longer associated with a political party since she lost her reelection bid to Jason Garnar.

Just before that election, it was revealed that Preston was accused of misusing a Town of Conklin credit card while she was Town Supervisor.

She pleaded guilty to one count of official misconduct and paid a $1,000.

Preston claims the mailing is slanderous.
