Death at Letchworth State Park
New York State Police are investigating a death at a popular park in Western New York.
Troopers and New York State Forest Rangers have recovered a body from the Letchworth Gorge.
Authorities say the investigation started in the evening February 23 and became a recovery effort.
Members of the State Park Police High Angle Rescue Team partnered with the State Police Aviation Unit and State Forest Rangers were able to recover the body February 24.
The State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations is working on the case and there is no information on the identity of the person or circumstances surrounding the death.
Letchworth State Park is located in the northwest corner of the state in Livingston and Wyoming Counties and is a popular destination for hikers and nature photographers with several large waterfalls on the Genesee River.
