A man accused of killing his estranged wife and her friend in May is due to stand trial on murder charges after pleading not guilty to three counts in Broome County Court. 

40 year old Aaron Powell is accused of killing 35 year old Christina Powell and 24 year old Mario Masciarelli in the woman’s home on Lisi Lane in the Town of Binghamton on March 22nd.

Aaron Powell’s trial is scheduled for May 19th.

Police were called to Christina’s home by a friend who was concerned that she had not been heard from.

When police entered the home, they found Masciarelli dead on the second floor where he had been beaten with a blunt object.

The woman was found strangled in the basement of the home.

Authorities launched a manhunt for Aaron Powel and located him five days later in a convenience store In Springville Township in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, where he was taken into custody.

Powell’s lawyer has filed a motion claiming his client suffered mental illness and/or extreme emotional disturbance.
