Authorities say 30-year-old Robert Smith of Oneonta was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

According to state police, Smith was arrested after a call to 911 reported the boys were seen in the roadway near a Speedway store in the Town of Oneonta.

Troopers found the four-year-old and six-year-old brothers a short distance away.

Police say Smith was discovered sleeping at home, unaware that the boys were gone.

Smith was arraigned in Oneida town court and sent to Otsego County Jail on $200 bail.
