Construction Underway on New Recreation Park Tennis Complex
Workers are busy building new tennis courts at Recreation Park on Binghamton's West Side.
The start of construction was delayed last year because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Heavy equipment was brought to the site late last fall in preparation for work to start this spring.
The new facility will be named the Harper M. Stantz Memorial Courts at Recreation Park. The 16-year-old Binghamton High School student died after she was struck by a vehicle on Beethoven Street, shortly after she had played tennis with a friend at the park.
Mayor Richard David said he expected construction of the tennis complex will be completed in June.
