Officials in the Chenango Forks School District say they have called for more police presence after two cross-country runners said they were chased by a man through a rope obstacle course on school property.

October 1, a student said that a man followed him as he walked home from a football game, asking him a lot of questions.

None of the students was hurt in the incidents and officials say the description of the man was similar.

In a notice sent home by the district, Superintendent Lloyd Peck said police patrols and surveillance will be increased.

Peck told local media that the current school security systems work with buildings locked and visitors checked.

If anyone else at Chenango Forks has had a similar experience, they can call the district office at 648-7543, extension 1.
